Save The Children – This Kind of Poverty

Spencer Murphy

As part of the launch of Save the Children’s new UK child poverty campaign, It Shouldn’t Happen Here, they commissioned our very own award-winning photographer Spencer Murphy to work with children in Tower Hamlets, east London.

The children were asked two questions while they waited to have their picture taken: what is poverty in the UK? And how do you feel about it? We then asked them to write their thoughts on a piece of paper. The results are featured along with their portraits.

Spencer’s approach to both his work & subject were a perfect marriage here. We are very proud of the series of emotive and thought provoking imagery that he has created.
