Matthew teamed up with Skof Manchester, Tom Barnes’ first solo restaurant and created this series of illustrations, celebrating Tom and the opening of his exciting new restaurant.
The restaurant is located in the iconic Hanover building, situated bang in the middle of Manchester’s NOMA neighbourhood. For this drawing Matthew relocated the building to the middle of the Lake District which is where Tom calls home.
Through out the drawing there are different rooms celebrating passions and giving nods to people who have been key to Tom’s journey. From a micro brewery with a past mentor, a joyful farm featuring Chef Simon Rogan to his grandad playing chess against his favourite veg. Within the restaurant downstairs he is cooking (with his grandma in the kitchen) for his first customers who are his close family and pets.
Elements of the artwork have been used across posters, products and staff shirts. It now resides as a large artwork at reception greeting people as they enter the restaurant.
