The picturesque small town of 3,000 souls has convinced the best athletes in the world to visit not just once, but twice. In 1980 it hosted the Winter Olympic Games, at which the U.S. team equaled its highest-ever medal tally. That previous medal haul? Lake Placid, 1932.
