On a crisp October morning I went out to a crane’s landing site in the Vancouver Lake Lowlands with the biggest lens I’ve ever used to photograph the sandhill cranes for Columbia Land Trust.   The location is a key stopover point for the cranes during their long distance journey along the Pacific Flyway as they feed, lounge, and roost overnight while also being closely monitored by land trust stewards.
