Esquire – The Golden Spurtle

Dan Burn-Forti

Dan Burn-Forti captured the fantastic atmosphere and spectators at the Golden Spurtle World Porridge Making Championships in Carrbridge, Scotland for Esquire Magazine.

Dan explains his experiences at the Porridge Championships “A spurtle, if you’re wondering, is the wooden stick you use to stir your porridge. No, I’d never heard of one either, but when asked to photograph this annual event deep in the wilds of the Highlands, I thought, Golden Spurtle?  Surely it’s got to be more interesting than a bunch of blokes making porridge all day?  Er, no.  That was it.  But the audience were strangely enthralled and I did get to taste the Worlds greatest porridge (nothing to write home about if you ask me, but don’t tell them).”
